24. November 1944
24 Nov. My parents have left and Carola has gone too. I count up the days I’ve spent together with Carola since our wedding. It’s 106 days.
I’ve spoken with Major Schellack about my promotion. My old division no longer exists. It was annihilated in Romania. I would first have to settle in a new unit and they would have to get to know me before I could be submitted for promotion. That could take some time, because you don’t promote a newcomer straight away. So I ask Major Schellack to submit me for promotion. He agrees and has the necessary questionnaires filled out and other documents obtained the same day. My promotion is already underway to the regiment[1]. Concerning my employment he suggests: Instructor at a Kriegsschule, first orderly officer with the Army HQ Norway or a division, Feldgendarmerie.
