During the war we told the Russian farmers, whose cows gave no more than 6 litres of milk a day, that our German cows gave 20 litres. They didn't want to believe that. After the war, the Red Army began to bring our cows from Germany, some of them on foot, to Russia, where they arrived completely emaciated and now also gave a maximum of 6 litres. 16 Dec. Currency reform 1:10. In the 2 1/2 years of captivity I had saved 860 roubles, so I got 86 new ones. Since each prisoner of war was only allowed to exchange 100 roubles, I had to recruit some comrades who exchanged 100 roubles each for me.
