I have changed quarters and no longer lie so cramped. One morning (22nd?) a rider stops in front of my house, ties up the horse and enters the parlour. It is Sergeant Nadler. He was already in Jasło with the 8/477 as squad leader in my platoon. A handsome fresh guy, the most capable squad leader. In my absence he was always put in charge of the platoon. Now he is to relieve me here.
So Lieutenant Herzog was quick to keep his word. For some time ago, when I was passing our units through one place, I had once again met our company. I spoke briefly with Lieutenant Herzog, who now leads the company, and on that occasion I asked him to bring me back to the company. He had promised to do so, so today he sent the relief.
I have Nadler describe the company's location to me. It currently has three days of rest and is located in a small village about thirty kilometres away.[1]
