Giant Mountains: Schronisko “Odrodzenie”, Petrova hostel Karte — map Karte — map
The author 1938/39 as associate grammar school teacher at the Schlüter school[1]: in the classroom
during club long throw[2]

I'm still at home, doing my teaching duties and spending an hour now and then with the very accessible redheaded daughter of our landlord, a well grown gymnast.

Petrova hostel

During the Easter vacations 1940 I spend a skiing vacation with Albert in the Giant Mountains. We live in Schronisko “Odrodzenie”, a youth hostel. But for two days and nights I move to the smaller and quieter Petrova hostel to where I was invited by an acquaintance whom I had recently met at an afternoon dancing coffee in another hostel. We spend wonderful days on the ridge, from whose height you can see far down into the Bohemian and Silesian countryside. Our ski tours are not hindered by any border, because the Czech border posts lie broken in the snow. The Greater German Reich is arisen.[3]
